The frame for this drawing requires some explanation. The inlaid band of material near the edge is poison ivy vine. The vine for the inlay was harvested from a 5" diameter vine from Southeastern Pennsylvania in 2002. An 18 inch section was cut from the vine and let to dry for 2 years. The vine inlay was carefully milled in 2004 using the utmost caution to avoid bodily contact with and inhalation of dust/debris. The irritant in poison ivy (Urushiol Oil) is highly concentrated within the vine but becomes inactive somewhere between 2 to 5 years.
